Job Summary:
The Fleet Technician at US Foods is responsible for performing skilled maintenance and repairs on diesel equipment, including tractors and trailers. This role includes diagnostics, preventative maintenance, documentation, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of hands-on experience as a diesel or reefer mechanic and possess strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Roles and Duties:
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, rebuild, and repair diesel equipment including tractors, trailers, reefers, and lift gates.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance within company standards.
- Handle road service calls and perform emergency equipment rescue and transport.
- Complete all documentation, including repair orders and parts tracking.
- Maintain shop safety standards and a clean work environment in accordance with OSHA and EPA guidelines.
- Manage inventory and contribute to overall shop operations as needed.
- Use Shop Fax system for job tracking and time management.
- Provide backup support for fellow technicians and take on additional responsibilities as required.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years verifiable experience as a heavy-duty diesel mechanic or reefer mechanic; or 2 years with appropriate certifications (Diesel or TK/Carrier Refrigeration).
- Diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for a range of diesel equipment issues.
- Experience administering preventative maintenance programs.
- Must supply own hand tools.
- CDL A license and DOT certification preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret technical and service manuals.
- Proficient in communication, team collaboration, and computer usage.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, carry, and handle equipment and tools as needed.
- Capable of working in shop and outdoor conditions, including road service scenarios.
- Must be able to work night shifts and flexible schedules, including weekends and overtime as needed.

Compensation and Benefits:
- Hourly pay starting at $34.00, with potential up to $38.00 based on experience.
- Eligible for overtime pay, a $15,000 retention bonus, certification and CDL premiums.
