Diesel Mechanic

Job Summary:

Ready to build a career with a company that’s leading the foodservice industry? US Foods is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Plymouth, MN. This full-time, overnight position offers competitive pay starting at $34.00 per hour, opportunities for overtime, and a $15,000 retention bonus. You’ll be responsible for maintaining and repairing a variety of diesel equipment to ensure the safety and efficiency of our fleet.

Roles and Duties:

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, rebuild, and repair diesel equipment (tractors, trailers, bobtails, reefers, lift gates, etc.).
• Perform preventive maintenance in accordance with company standards.
• Document all repair orders and parts usage accurately.
• Respond to road service calls and perform on-site equipment rescue/transport.
• Track repairs through the Shop Fax system.
• Maintain a clean and safe shop environment in compliance with EPA and OSHA standards.
• Manage inventory and recordkeeping.
• Support fellow maintenance personnel as needed.
• Take on additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years hands-on experience as a heavy-duty diesel or reefer mechanic; or 2 years with relevant certifications (Diesel Mechanic or TK/Carrier Refrigeration).
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities.
• Familiar with preventative maintenance programs.
• Must supply own personal hand tools.
• CDL A license and DOT certification preferred.
• Ability to read technical and service manuals.
• Computer literacy and familiarity with maintenance software.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
• Must be capable of lifting and handling tools and equipment regularly.

Compensation and Benefits:

• Hourly rate: $34.00 - $38.00 based on experience and certifications.
• Eligible for overtime, CDL premium, certification premium, and $15,000 retention bonus.
