Job Summary:
The Fleet Maintenance Technician at US Foods is responsible for performing diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on a variety of diesel equipment including tractors, trailers, reefers, and lift gates. This role ensures vehicles are maintained safely, efficiently, and in compliance with EPA and OSHA standards, while working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Roles and Duties:
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair diesel equipment (tractors, trailers, reefers, lift gates, etc.).
- Perform preventative maintenance according to company standards.
- Document all repairs, PM lists, and maintain parts accountability.
- Handle road service calls and perform on-road rescue and equipment transport.
- Log work time in the Shop Fax system.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment following all safety regulations.
- Track inventory and perform accurate recordkeeping.
- Provide backup support to other maintenance personnel as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 3 years of verifiable hands-on experience as a diesel or reefer mechanic; OR
- 2 years of experience plus Diesel Mechanic Certification or TK/Carrier Refrigeration Certification.
- Proficiency in diagnostics and equipment troubleshooting.
- Strong independent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Prior experience with preventative maintenance programs.
- Must provide own hand tools.
- CDL A and DOT certification preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move heavy parts and tools.
- Must be able to work in physically demanding conditions and varying weather environments.
- Must be able to work overtime, nights, and weekends as required.

Compensation and Benefits:
- Pay starting at $34.00/hour, with potential up to $38.00/hour based on experience and certifications.
- Overtime compensation and eligibility for a $15,000 Retention Bonus.
